The Greater Texarkana Branch of the National Association for Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) mission is to serve Texarkana and Northeast Texas, its community and people and to provide and assist people in hopes of ensuring equal prosperity, advancement and opportunities; as well as protect the rights and freedom of people in anticipation that they can pursue, fulfill and achieve their aspirations.

The Greater Texarkana Branch assists the national NAACP, which is the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization, with advancing its mission to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination.


The Greater Texarkana Branch goals and initiatives are only as strong as the community and members belief in our mission and ability to assist and pave a new future as previous members and leaders before them.   The Branch’s current initiatives are as follows:

  • Justice and Equality

  • Voter Education/Registration Drive

  • Annual Freedom Fund Awards Banquet

  • Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Program

  • Scholarships

  • Building and growing partnerships (i.e. communications) with local government, businesses and community leaders

  • Affordable Fair Housing


The Greater Texarkana NAACP Branch needs the community support in order to achieve its goals and strive for more just and equitable stands for all. It requires the hard work and dedication of the community in order to create and sustain change.
