MISSION

The National NAACP mission is to achieve equity, political rights, and social inclusion by advancing policies and practices that expand human and civil rights, eliminate discrimination, and accelerate the well-being, education, and economic security of Black people and all persons of color.

The NAACP is the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization, with advancing its mission to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination.

The Greater Texarkana Branch of the National Association for Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) mission is to serve Texarkana and Northeast Texas, its community and people and to provide and assist people in hopes of ensuring equal prosperity, advancement and opportunities; as well as protect the rights and freedom of people in anticipation that they can pursue, fulfill and achieve their aspirations.

VISION

We envision an inclusive community rooted in liberation where all persons can exercise their civil and human rights without discrimination.

INITIATIVES

The Greater Texarkana Branch goals and initiatives are only as strong as the community and members belief in our mission and ability to assist and pave a new future as previous members and leaders before them. The Branch’s current initiatives are as follows:

Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Program
Scholarships
Building and growing partnerships (i.e. communications) with local government, businesses and community leaders
Affordable Fair Housing
